216/366: When running becomes authentic

Well for me at least. Summer running feels like cheating at times. The light, birds singing joyfully as the sun bathes them in warmth, flies buzzing and bees pollenating are all things that happen for a relatively short period of time each year. This morning it was dark for a good chunk of my run. It was horribly, yet exhilaratingly, wet and the wind made the damp tee that couple of notches colder. Aye, this is authentic. This is the running I am used. It is the running I feel most accomplished with. Aye. Just aye. This picture was taken about 1 mile from home and you can see how dark it is even at 5:50am.

Let’s call this new season Sumter!
