4/366: Creecyhill Wood at Barr Hill

This is a brilliant trail to run on with the pine needles giving the feel of soft carpet underfoot. It is also the start of two energy sapping climbs towards the end of the Antonine Trail Race.

The hill starts at the Twechar end of Barr Hill and goes and up over – with a climb of about 360 feet – into Croy. The trail is currently a tad messy as the Forestry Commision undertake some tree felling work.

There is also a pretty well preserved set of ruins and fort from Roman times and the Antonine Wall is stunning around this area.
